This clock is perfect for it's function: demonstrating and teaching time. It displays both time and minutes, and has a gear so that you don't have to touch the actual hands to change the time. For the price it is perfect. An individual student clock to use as a tool in mathematics. HOWEVER, it is too easy to take apart, and my children are constantly lifting the plastic cover off, removing the paper face, and dumping out all of the gears. Intended for my first grader, and is perfect for that age. Keep out of the reach of small mischief makers! That said, although it is a hassle to reassemble, it has held up to the abuse it has received thus far.

My 5 year old knew how to tell time on the hour and half hour, but was having trouble learning to tell time by minutes. So I purchased this clock as a visual so he could see the movement of the hands. I love that each minute is numbered (most student clocks do not have this feature) and that the color of the hands corresponds with the color of the numbers. Also, I like that the clock is geared so that the movements of the hands is like a real clock rather than the hands moving individually. Overall, it's a great little student clock, especially for the price. Now for the negatives: The clear face plate slips off a little too easily, and the mechanism for moving the hands comes off it's "track" too easily (but can be put back on as long as it doesn't fall too far down inside the clock).
