I have two older daughters who received these when they were 8 and 10 years old. They just love these dolls - they were able to decorate their dolls, then name them. Considering how much each girl loves glitter and jewels, the accessories to decorate the dolls were perfect.
I was surprised (pleasantly) at the durability of the dolls. The wood is much thinner than I would have expected, so I thought they would easily split. They did not, and have even withstood my younger daughter (now 4) taking one and running off with it. The girls would like another set in the future, and they are now 13 and 15. At their current ages, this seems like kitschy fun to them - and it would look cute in their rooms.
All in all, while there is not a whole lot of educational value (unless you want to consider the artwork and craft perspective), it is very entertaining and leaves you with something that will last (unlike a traditional 'toy').

Purchased for my 4 year old's birthday party to give out as party favors. Paid $5.00 each. Well worth the $5.00. I think it is better than some of the party favors that are given out. Great project to paint on a rainy day....
