5great toy for two year oldNov 03, 2010
By Craig Lee Pollitt
I love this puzzle. My daughter who just turned two in october is having speech problems and works with a speech teacher once a week for an hour. she just started this in august and has developed alot within few months. One of their main toys they play with is puzzles. so this one i saw was great for her to work with the clothing and love the interchangable faces showing that one is grumpy, sad, happy, etc.

Plus my four year old likes to join along to play too!

4What you need to knowAug 06, 2012

The set is very cute. My 2 yr old girls and 5 yr old son all love playing with it. 2 things you need to know -- 1) if you have a child that still puts things in their mouth, they will ruin this toy. The wooden pieces are not choking hazards (that I can tell) but the "clothes" slide right off the wood if your child sucks or chews on it. 2) There are a lot of angry faces. I think papa bear only has one smiling face and the rest are all either angry, confused, or sleeping. I would have liked to see more happy expressions - excitement, contentment, even a silly face. This might seem petty, but if your kids use them to make up stories, then they are making up a bunch of sad, mad, weird stories to match the faces with limited happy options. Anyway, my girls like making up new outfits for the bears. I would buy it again (may have to, after all the chewing!!! LOL)

5Amazing!!Nov 23, 2010

I only purchased this because I needed to get to my $[...] shipping. My boys ages 2, 4 and 6 have played with this more than any other puzzle toy I've purchased. Together they can sit down and play with this for an hour. It's amazing!!

3There are better Melissa and Doug PuzzlesNov 18, 2012
By Megan
We have at least a dozen Melissa and Doug puzzles and this is by far our least favorite. It was a present for my daughter's third birthday and while she plays with the other ones a lot, she doesn't like this one much at all.
The main reason is that the bears are different sizes -- and the clothes/heads are not interchangeable between the bears! They are just slightly different sizes and the heads and clothes from Mama Bear do not fit in baby or papa. This is very frustrating to a toddler. They come sorted into three different compartments with each bear's pieces separate -- but within minutes of giving them to a toddler, they are (of course) mixed up. So it is then very tough to figure out which go with each bear. Unless you want to help sort them again for your toddler about every 5 minutes, I would suggest a different puzzle.
In addition, the quality of ours was not very good, and several of the baby bear outfits are not cut correctly so that they do not quite fit with the head in. Adding that to the sorting problem, I do not recommend this puzzle, there are definitely better ones.
If you are looking for a Melissa and Doug dress-up type puzzle, I suggest the magnetic types -- like Abby and Emma Magnetic Dress up puzzle or Joey Magnetic Dress up (firefighter) -- or the puzzles like Ballerina Dress-Up Mix 'n Match Peg or Princess Dress-Up Mix 'n Match Peg Puzzle, all of which are way better than this one.

1Wanted this to be a quality productApr 13, 2012

I am not just thrilled with the quality of Melissa and Doug products. I took a risk on this product because I have not been happy with the quality of their products in the past, but I though this looked really cute.

When I opened the box, many of the bear pieces were jagged as if someone still needed to sand them. The wood on three of the pieces is completely cracked. I DID NOT give this product to my kids. I may try to sand them down and just toss the three broken pieces.

If I let my kids play with this toy it will be COMPLETELY supervised.
