I wanted to love this puzzle ...Nov 07, 2010
By J. Vickery My 2-year-old puzzle lover is at that difficult stage where peg puzzles are too easy, but most jigsaw puzzles are too challenging. So when I saw this line of inlaid wooden puzzles by Schylling, I wanted to love them. This cow puzzle was our first purchase. On the plus side, it is the perfect level of difficulty for my daughter. She did it at least 20 times within the first 24 hours of its arrival and even had to tell it "Night, night!" when I put it on the puzzle rack the first night. From my perspective, however, it could be better. When I opened the package, the pieces still had sawdust on them from the cutting process, and the edges were quite rough -- so much so that I got a splinter while wiping the dust off of them. Second, one of the pieces was badly warped. It bows up about an eighth of an inch higher than the surrounding pieces even when properly placed. This frustrates my daughter, who keeps trying to push it down "where it belongs." Last of all, the picture itself is printed paper. Painted wood would be a welcome upgrade.
Nice challenge for very young puzzlers.Dec 28, 2011

Its difficult to find wooden puzzles like this for toddlers. This one is a challenge for children, but my 1 1/2 year old needed something harder than the peg puzzles. When he does this puzzle, he does it over and over. I think this one is more challenging for him than the train puzzle by the same company, but he does really enjoy the challenge. There is some wear on the puzzle in only six months of use, but no splinters. Just some cracks and minor paint chip wear.
The description makes it seem as if the tray is something cool -its just a red cardboard part of the packaging, in my opinion. No reason to mention that it comes with this tray ... it went straight to recycle bin.
Great PuzzleAug 02, 2011
By C. Goodwin This is a nice wooden puzzle of a type that can be difficult to find. Perfect for 2-3 year olds who find peg puzzles too easy and jigsaw puzzles too hard. The kids have played with it regularly over several months now and none of the pieces are broken or chipped.

She was a bit too young for traditional 24 piece jigsaw puzzles but this was perfect for her! It was challenging but not too hard. She loves doing this puzzle every day!
