I've bought toys like this before that worked perfectly. I paid not only for this item but for overnight shipping so I'd have it when I babysat my 2-year-old grandson, who is into trains. I knew he'd love the toy. I was so disappointed when it didn't work. We finally got SOME sound out of it but it took all I could do to get sound, and of course it was impossible for a 2-year-old to do.
I guess this is a toy that must be tested first before you buy because it was a total waste of almost [...] for me. And I'm still looking for one locally that works.

This really does sound like Thomas! My son likes to "play trains" and use this Thomas whistle to add his own sound effects. It is great quality.
My only complaint about this product is that the decrative part is paper, not painted or anything. I gave it to my son for his birthday, wrapped in Thomas paper; he keeps insisting that he needs to "unwrap" the decorative part (so far, though, it has held up to him trying to peel the paper off - it is stuck on there really well).

My niece like many children loves Thomas & Friends.I wondered how train like this whistle would sound. The likeness is impressive. This toy is very fun and compliments train play very well and it's easy enough for a 3yr old to operate. This whistle does not disapoint.

Great toy! Make kids happy but make parents ill. (lol) Kids love Thomas. Make sure you get more of Thomas to make this toy complete.

The wood whistle is covered in a Sticker. the picture in the add looked more like it was painted on. My boy loves to peel stickers off of things. The sticker wasn't put on smoothly either and has lots of bubbles and spots where i know my boy will eventually get to and peel it all off. Had i known it was just a sticker on a standard wood train whistle i would have bought the cheaper plain one and put my own stickers on it. I am keeping this one as my boy loves it.
-Also note the sticker they put on it looks Nothing like the photo in this add, the trains are small and the faces aren't as big as shown.
