Both my kids have one of these, and they both sleep with them. My 5 yr old daughter had one, and then my infant son started looking forward to seeing it every time he went to wake his sister up. She ended up giving it to him; it was the first stuffed animal that he took a liking to. He started babbling at it and hugging and gnawing on it. But it surprisingly has held up very well to repeated gnawings and washings in the washing machine. It even helped get him to start sleeping in his crib. Its a miracle penguin. We got my daughter a second one because she started missing hers.

This penguin was given to me by someone and I became somewhat attached to it. My primary/original TY Waddles is a 2006 model with the embroidered eyes (though I also own 3 that are plastic - these are the newer ones). His name is "Penguinoh" and he has an active twitter account (@penguinoh), website, facebook account with many photos, and a travel photo blog (with pictures in 25 cities around the world). Yes, I am pretty serious about this thing.
These penguins are exceedingly durable; after much wear mine still looks fairly new. They can be washed but I would recommend doing so carefully by hand and not using a washing machine. I can highly recommend this to anyone; it's an absolute steal for price offered on Amazon. Note that these are hand made and do differ slightly in appearance from penguin to penguin, which gives each a unique character.
NOTE: I am an adult!

During and after his marriage, Larry has been described by his ex wife as a Weasel, which we both could understand; as an ass, which we both could agree with and finally, in a fit of anger, was described as a Penguin. Neither of us get that one. But I sent him this adorable penguin anyway. It is very cute and lovable. Something that any child would love to have. Larry, at 62 loves it also.

My 13-month old daughter isn't very interested in stuffed animals, but she loves this penguin! "Peggy" loves to dance and gives great hugs ;) It's a very soft toy and just the right size to be small enough for little hands to carry or be thrown in the diaper bag while still being big enough to be interesting. It's great for riding in the carseat since it's lightweight and doesn't have any hard or sharp edges. I'm impressed that the white cloth doesn't get dirty too quickly.

This is machine washable. It is very soft and my baby loves it. It is approved for all ages so I think it can be given to a newborn.
